A few weeks ago my mosaic piece entitled "Gratitude" was noticed by a woman named Joyce Schwarz who is having a book published called "The Vision Board" by Harper Collins Publishers. The Vision Board has been mentioned over many years but recently in "The Secret" and on Oprah.
The concept is fascinating and helps you see the big picture for your dreams and desires.
I'm humbled to say that Joyce seemed excited to acquire my piece to add to a chapter of her book called "Visions of Gratitude". It will be a coffee table book, available on Amazon and in big book stores around town. I am so thrilled and honored to be part of this important project.
Joyce's call came at a time when I was beginning to have doubts about my work. I have days when I'm driven and can't seem to stop the flow and others days when I just don't think any of it is worth the amount of my time and energy I put into each piece. When I'm tired I become discouraged and desperate about how to stay focused on all my blessings and to have confidence that I am a worthy artist.
When I received Joyce's call it was like the loudest message I think I've ever gotten to keep creating my pieces and to be grateful for my life, talent and my belief in a higher power among so many other things. I was jumping up and down like a little kid and couldn't believe my good fortune.
Being a calligrapher, words are my motivational background. Each of my creations has a meaningful word connected to it. It gives me direction for the over all visual design I want to project.
The word gratitude is one of my favorite words. Each day the word has new meaning for me and I use it a lot to stimulate my art in many ways. So it really wasn't a surprise that a "Gratitude" piece was the choice to kick my butt and wake me up. I have made several pieces about gratitude but this one in particular will always be a reminder that I am a worthy artist, to not doubt that and to believe in myself.
I have also submitted a call for entry to Somerset Studio another piece that I am wanting to be published. I'm hoping that this is my year to get my art out there. It's kind of scary but I believe worth all the effort. I will just stay in gratitude and listen for all the messages that I know will come along the way.
So...I say thank you to Joyce for connecting and liking my mosaic, one of a kind creation "Gratitude". and making it a part of her book, "The Vision Board". I hope that my art touches and inspires many who see it in this wonderful book.
