My friend and fellow Calligrapher, Carrie started a group of 8 calligraphers to get together once a month to work on projects. I'm so honored to be part of these wonderfully talented ladies to create calligraphic art and learn, be inspired and share. Yesterday, we had a mini class which Carrie directed. She's a fabulous teacher and calligrapher which goes without saying...we drew, cut and pasted to construct puzzle words. Each one was so different (the words were different which of course made it different) but so creative. And, we had fun doing it...
I've been accepted to Zinnia's "Heartbreak" exhibit of which I am excited and proud to be part of. The reception is Valentine's Day at 7P.M. - 9P.M. The store is in Pasadena...1040 Mission Street in Pasadena.
I will also be submitting a piece to the Orange County exhibit for the SFC (Society for Calligraphy). It's something different than the usual calligraphic piece so I hope it's received well. Well, that's all for now.
I received an email last week "A Call for Artists" from my favorite store in Pasadena. It is for a Valentine art show in the store entitled "Heartbreak". I really wanted to submit but couldn't think of a thing to create. While taking a shower the other day, it hit me. Existing the tub quickly, I went straight for my art supplies and viola! produce "Mend". I submitted it this morning but won't know if "Mend" was chosen until the 25th or so. Now is the hard part...I have to be patient and wait.
Well, I made it through the holidays and am relieved that they are over. I was terribly busy with work, the gallery and daily life. I am very thrilled to say that my art was received very well and many of my pieces have sold. Now, however, I have to replace what was sold with new things so again, I will be busy with work, the gallery and daily life. I hope you understand, this is not a complaint as I feel very satisfied and blessed to know that I can earn money at the thing I love to do best. Life is definitely sweet right now.
I send my best wishes to everyone that reads my blog to have a safe, healthy and prosperous new year and may God and the good fairies bless and watch over you and yours.
I'm so grateful to be able to share my art with others. I'm mixed media and love doing lots of different mediums. My main stay is calligraphy of course and most of my art has words in them, hence "The Word is ART". Hope you like what you see and come back often.
Have a blessed day. Renee
