Artful Journey Retreat

I took a class with Jesse Reno at Artful Journey in Los Gatos, CA. last weekend.

Jesse Reno original painting 1

Jesse Reno's original painting 2
It was 3 full days of instruction, stories of his life and sharing of ideas and techniques which I had been wanting to do for a long time.  It was definitely worth waiting for...
Jesse is a brilliant artist whom I respect and admire, not only for his talent but for the person he is.  He is a free soul that truly listens to his inner guidance and follows his bliss into the success that prevails today.

Here's 2 pieces that he inspired in me...
This is on Ros sen paper that I will be mounting on wood and is my favorite painting to date.  I love that it is so different from what I normally paint and is so inspiring to me.

This is Oscar, following true to Jesse's style of bizarre characters.  I am planning on giving this painting to my grandson, James for his 9th birthday.  There is a story about who Oscar is that I will add to the back of the painting...Oscar captures little children when they do naughty things, turns back the clock and gives them the opportunity to do the right thing and experience the results of that to teach them how important their actions are.  James is going through growing pains and acting out a bit so Oscar will be an appropriate gift for him this year.  I'm thrilled that it is a gift of art.

Oscar is terrific! (and I love the lettering you've added to the piece). Perhaps Oscar has an older brother that turns back the clock for misbehaving adults? :)

Hi Renee! It was so much fun to meet you and talk with you at length at the retreat on Sunday evening in Nina's classroom. I'm so glad you posted your paintings for me to enjoy again. I hope your re-entry into "life" went well this week, and I was thinking of you Wednesday, sending positive energy your way. Hope to see you again at another art event!

I love your work from Jesse's class, Renee! Since I have twin 7-year-olds, Oscar and the story behind him particularly appeals to me. It was so wonderful to meet you in person after I had the opportunity to contribute to your book you created to benefit Bernie Berlin!
