A friend of mine shared these small 4x6 blocks of wood with me and I didn't know quite what to do with them. It was the size that I was questioning. I wasn't sure that it would be considered salable in this small format but I wanted to go forward just to challenge myself to see if it would work.
I first painted the block of wood black on the back and sides then proceeded to approach the surface like I do my handmade cards, with fabric, decorative paper, images and ephemera. As I love Joseph Campbell's thinking, I chose one of his quotes for this piece. It helped bring it together for me. I put a hanger on the back just in case but it could also sit on a shelf.
I'm pleased with the outcome and am encouraged to do the other 8 pieces. I would love your feed back so let me know what you think. Thanks and have a creative week end.

I LOVE this piece Renee! The detail and lusciousness that you created in such a small space is amazing. And the quote ~ wonderful. By the way, your new camera makes a huge difference in the quality of your photos. Now your artworks beauty is even more apparent.
Wonderful assemblage Renee! But I cannot lie, I would rather see *your* lettering on the Joseph Campbell quote. :)
